Recognition Certificates

Should I be worried for my job?

I'm a kitchen designer/sales. For 2 yrs its just been me & my partner in crime working & getting pretty decent sales. We recently had little blood bath last month over a sale that neither of us ended getting & costed me $15000. The customer originally bought the kitchen from me (she was kind of 2 faced in the first place). Because of all of the fiasco that went on about the design she ended up cancelling & corporate had to send her a check for $15000. I'm sure this big box corporation has had to do this before but it really was an issue between me, my co-worker & this lady that was pushy and aggressive. She would have ended up being a nightmare anyway. To make a long story short, I've been kicking some major @ss this past month. I'm even supposed to get a certificate of recognition for my performance for the past 4 weeks. Needless to say, me and my co-worker just found out that they are adding another specialist. They say because of the business that we've been having in our dept. We've always been fine in our department with just the 2 of us. I'm not sure if I should believe what they're saying or if thats just a sneaky way of trying to slowly push one of us out. Its really hard to learn everything in that particular field, so its going to be a lot of work if they throw someone in there, especially if they dont know anything. Should I start looking for a possible replacement? Need an outsiders point of view.

  1. It sounds like they are adding someone because of an increase in business, thats all.
  2. No, I wouldn't be worried. If sales are up , they want to make sure they can get all the business they can.
  3. i've seen ppl being replaced like what you're saying twice. but that doesn't mean you hafta jump to conclusions. just wait and see what happens. feel it out a little more. you said it'll take a bit for the person to be fully trained anyway- you will have til then to figure out what's goin on. but it only sounds like they're are gettin extra staff to balance out all the work you guys are bringing in. good job- just keep up the good work!
