Recognition Certificates

Is there any insitution who can via only exams validate ones knowledge in a area and provide a certificate,BA?

I am here thinking about without attending any university. If one for example has gained extensive knowledge in an area by self study. Is it possible to just show up for a few exams and gain a B.A. degree? Is there any such award in the world? Im not thinking about distance study or the like. Just a degree awarding institution of a certian recognition, who does not require attendance or assignments or contact prior to setting up exams to verify ones knowledge.

1. No, you must attend all the classes, etc. You might be able to take courses online, but you must still be able to demonstrate proper knowledge of material and spend the time and money necessary.
